Ever since I was a little girl my biggest dream has always been to be a teacher. Coming from a very humble family, my parents could not afford to buy me a chalkboard. As a child I used put papers on the wall pretending it was a chalkboard, and I would sit all my dolls pretending they were my students. At the age of 7 my mother suprised me with a small chalkboard which as I recall was the best birthday present.
As the years passed by I was determined that the only thing I wanted to do in life was teach. Unfortunately due to a set of events I followed different path. I got married at a young age, and had three children which I do not regret at all my children are my world.
When I finally decided to return to school, I did not hesitate to pursue my dream to teach. Yet I have many friends in the field that up to this day try to convince me to change my mind, and pursue a different career. Sometimes I wonder if in fact this is what I want to do in life. Education has changed tremendously over the years that teaching has become a challenge. For example now there is more testing, and less classtime. Before being a teacher was a secure job, now a days teachers have to fight to maintain their position. Therefore I continously ask myself wether I should continue to pursue my childhood dream, or look at the possibility of letting that dream go.

Just Google It.
Today I learned that on a typical day like today, 19 years ago Google was founded. Throughout the years google has made many improvements to become the most popular search engine. Which takes me to the question, why is google more popular than other search sites?
Google is convenient to use, in today's busy world we have the capability of taking google on our smart phones it makes it easy to search anything from any location. Google gained popularity when we discovered that it was easy, and more accurate than other search options. Have you ever heard the phrase , just google it? Any possible question can be searched, and the possible answers are endless. Google's success comes from the company's overall vision of assisting those with questions. After learning about the history of google, I realized that I have used google since it was founded. I am also very intrigued by their vision, their code of ethics, but specially their great employment oportunities. Perhaps I should pursue working for google, it looks like my type of work environmet.

Every extraordinary concept begins with a basic idea. According to Danah Boyd social media was developed by people using the older programs like, BBS, Usenet, and email that wanted to find an easier form of communication. I would agree with the author that this is how the idea began, even though she does not provide evidence of such information in her article the author is clear that these tools of communication have improved tremendously. Today social media is being used as one of the biggest forms of communication, through these tools we are able to communicate with long distance friends, and family in a more convenient way.
According to the author of the article, the social media tools opened another window of opportunity to improve other tools in engineering. For example, new language programs, database architectures, and architectural standards. The social media has also become a good source for advertising, and entertainment. Business have also taken advantage of the popularity, and simplicity of social media tools. For example, business owners use Facebook, or twitter to advertise their businesses. Through social media we can be informed on anything we could possibly be interested in. I am a big football fan, my favorite team is the Arizona Cardinals. Through Facebook, and twitter I am able to keep up with updates about games, players, and current events.
In my opinion when new concepts are created with a specific purpose in mind, most of the time it becomes a overly successful idea. Social media was created with a basic concept of an easier way of communication. Previous tools had been created, yet people were seeking higher speed, and easier accessibility. That is exactly what the social media tools brought to the table. Yet there are many people that use social media as a way to find affection, or attention from their own followers. I believe that we look for acceptance from society in these different social media cites. For example, how many people like our pictures or comment with compliments. By nature we seek popularity, and acceptance. Yet when we begin to overlook the true concept of social media, is that when is it no longer useful to us? Lets not forget the beginning purpose of social media, that is communication!!
